Steve Jobs, zakladatel a dlouhodobý šéf společnosti Apple, manžel a otec 4 dětí, zemřel 5. října ve věku 56 let. Podlehl rakovině slinivky. Bůh žehnej jeho rodině.
Nemám k tomu moc co dodat. To že se blíží konec bylo zřejmé už z jeho opuštění pozice CEO a nepřítomnosti na úterním uvedení iPhone 4S. Zemřela ohromná osobnost světového IT dneška a historie. Největšího rozkvětu se firma dočkala možná trochu paradoxně právě od té doby, co mu byla v roce 2004 diagnostikována smrtelná rakovina slinivky břišní. Ačkoliv 99 % nemocných na ní umírá v prvním půlroce, Steve se s ní dokázal porvat a je to jistě hlavně jeho zásluhou, že se ze společnosti Apple stala nejen největší firma světa, ale hlavně že jeho výrobky mají zdaleka nejspokojenější uživatele. Včetně mě. A za to mu děkuji. Existuje-li nebe, jistě si jej Svatý Petr zabookoval na iPadu.

I’m truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs’ death. Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work.
Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives.
The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come.
For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely.
Asi si pamatujete, že se Apple spolu s ostatními výrobci zavázal EU prodávat všechny své telefony s nabíječkou na Micro USB. Evropská unie si od toho slibuje snížení elektronického odpadu z nepotřebných nabíječek, protože bude možné sdílet nabíječku mezi jednotlivými přístroji různých výrobců.
